Todd Mcfarlane Best Art Rebirth Superman Meets New 52 Superman
This list, based on the current market place values for both raw and graded copies, highlights today'southward well-nigh valuable 100 comic book variants. Excluded from this list are loftier ratio variants (1:500, 1:1000, etc.), price, mistake and recalled "variants". Why exclude these? High ratio variants have a high initial buy cost. Almost of these (while still expensive) accept all for the nigh part decreased in value since their initial release. For example: STAR WARS: VADER DOWN #1 i:4999 was at the top of this list. With this volume hitting heights of $7K, its contempo sale of $959 isn't a true representative of this list's intentions. Error/recalled variants (which I LOVE and should have its own list) are oddities and not intended as a "variant".
Every variant on this list was obtainable for reasonable prices upon release and have since shot up in value. Granted, this isn't a definitive list. It just reflects what has sold within the past 3 months. At that place are plenty of variants missing that only haven't seen a sale in a very long time, mostly due to scarcity. As well, you may be wondering why your favorite embrace isn't on hither. Prices fluctuate incredibly ofttimes on variants. What sold for $250 a few months ago may take dipped down to $150. There are And so many variants in the $100 to $170 range that Only missed this list by a few dollars. (For example, later on I finished this commodity, Wolverine #310 1:100 Platt variant hit a crazy height at $900 for a CGC nine.8. No raw sales before for that or the 1:200 sketch previously. That price volition make these copies come out of the woodwork. They volition show up on this list next time!). Did we miss something? Let u.s.a. know and nosotros'll add together it to the next update. This volition exist updated every few months and will hopefully be helpful to our readers when seeking out the best of the best variants to chase. Cheers for visiting and enjoy!
#1 – AMAZING SPIDER-Human being #667 DELL'OTTO i:100 VARIANT (MARVEL 2011)
eBay NM Avg raw: $two,000 (*update* fellow member JDR found a more recent raw sale at $2,500 on iii/25/sixteen. So, notwithstanding #1. It just gives Siege a fiddling more work to do. Thanks JDR!)
eBay Graded Sale: 9.half dozen: $4,000
The king of "normal" ratio incentive variants. This incredibly hard to notice variant is all thanks to it being a 1:100 variant during Spidey'due south lowest sales ever in 2011. A book like this doesn't get easier to discover as time passes. The folks paying these prices are most likely keeping these in their collection.
#2 – SIEGE #iii DEADPOOL CAMPBELL VARIANT (Curiosity 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $1,913
eBay Graded Sale: nine.four: $one,650
When I started making this list, the last sale was in May at $900. Well, a contempo sale on 8/21 blew that out of the water at close to $2K, well-nigh overtaking the King Spidey #667. To get this variant, retailers had to transport into Curiosity l unsold copies of DC'southward Blackest Night crossover to get 1 re-create of this variant. Not many did. Existence a scarce Deadpool Campbell variant (rumored to be around 400 copies), it can hands command a high price for quite some time.
#3 – WALKING DEAD #100 LUCILLE Cherry-red VARIANT (Epitome 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $i,675
eBay Graded Sale: nine.8: $ii,400
This book is And so close to overtaking WD #i equally the most expensive book in the series. This was a Skybound Black Friday to Cyber Monday express to 250 exclusive in 2012. With so few copies, fans will want one for their collections and they merely won't show upward. And seeing how there haven't been any copies lately, this appears to have already happened.
#4 – WOLVERINE #1 CAMPBELL "DEADPOOL" VARIANT (MARVEL 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $i,425
eBay Graded Sale: 9.6: $1,775
Once again, when I started this list the nearly contempo sale was $810. Now, on 8/14 this saw a NM re-create sell for $i,425. Like Siege, to get 1 copy of this variant, retailers had to transport in 50 covers from a specific list. Information technology'due south arguably rarer than Siege and black covers are vicious to get in loftier form. Another rumored impress run of 450 copies, this variant will never terminate climbing this listing and I guarantee information technology will eventually be #1.
#five – AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #678 QUINONES MARY JANE VENOM 1:l VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $i,300
eBay Graded Sale: ix.eight: $3,275
Easily the most coveted Spider-Man variant. This cover is so hard to notice and then valuable that it has spiked over every other "2012 Venom Variant Month " book (most make an appearance on this list). The raw value for this has somewhat stabilized later on making big jumps for the by few years. Nevertheless, high grade 9.viii copies still sell for a premium.
#half-dozen – SPAWN #185 WHILCE PORTACIO/MCFARLANE SKETCH VARIANT (Paradigm 2008)
eBay NM Avg raw: $one,300
eBay Graded Auction: North/A
Again, this price is an guess. It'south based off of a lot sale on 6/24/16 of $2,750, which included other pop Spawn #185 variants, including the headless variant (westward/ gun) that sells for $200, a CGC SS McFarlane nine.six of that variant (valued at $i.2K), two standard issues and a more than common headless (no gun) variant. What helped drive this lot is this incredibly rare B&W Endgame Sketch variant. Drawn by Whilce Portacio and inked by Todd McFarlane, this variant came during a fourth dimension when Spawn was down to a low 30K impress run. Regardless, information technology'southward one of the rarest and almost valuable Spawn books.
#7 – WALKING Dead #100 HERO INITIATIVE Bare VARIANT (Image 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $1,238
eBay Graded Sale: PGX nine.viii: $two,400
This "Stolen" blank variant was initially created for the Hero Initiative. It'south iffy whether they were stolen or just excess copies that employees or artists kept. Regardless, CGC considers them equally stolen and won't form them and volition send them back to the submitter. However, a bare PGX 9.eight sold for $2,400. Nothing on it. Just a blank cover. Crazy. The books that have sketches done past manufacture artists by and large sell for $3K and up.
#8 – TRANSFORMERS UNIVERSE #1 LIMITED 2003 OTFCC "UNICRON" VARIANT (3H PROD 2003)
eBay NM Avg raw: $1,050
eBay Graded Sale: Northward/A
This alternate encompass to Transformers Universe #ane featuring Unicron was but bachelor in limited numbers at the first OTFCC (Official Transformers Collectors Club Convention) 2003 convention. Rumors mention that this was express to 100 copies, mayhap even less. No i (or not many) even knew nearly this book until its sale on five/xvi/sixteen. And it was a VF+ copy nonetheless! A re-create is currently up for sale at $2,500.
#9 – Black PANTHER #one 2009 NYCC J. SCOTT CAMPBELL Partial SKETCH VARIANT (MARVEL 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $1,000
eBay Graded Sale: 9.eight: $3,650
A VF copy sold in July for $418 in an auction. This is really surprising equally raw copies of this very rarely popular up. The $ane,000 is a guess based off of that sale for a NM re-create. Nothing special happens in this issue nor has the female person Black Panther taken off in the aftermarket. It's simply hard to find and a gorgeous Campbell cover that looks different from his more than frequent style.
#10 – UNCANNY 10-MEN #510 J. SCOTT CAMPBELL "PSYLOCKE" SKETCH VARIANT (MARVEL 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $1,000
eBay Graded Auction: ix.6: $i,975
Somehow, the Campbell #510 variant looks fifty-fifty more than astonishing with just the white background. This was passed out in 2009 at both the Heroes Con in Charlotte (North Carolina) and San Diego Comic Con. It definitely makes you lot pay attention to futurity limited variants like this. Merely give them five to 6 years and Blast.
#11 – SAGA #one RETAILER SUMMIT RRP VARIANT (Prototype 2008)
eBay NM Avg raw: $950
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $i,500
This raw value is an estimate. Raw copies VERY rarely come upward for auction. Limited to 500 copies, this Diamond Retailer Summit variant has been heavily slabbed. Recent copies are selling for $1,500. Don't sell your copies as I definitely expect this to go along to pitter-patter upwards to the height of this listing.
#12 – X-23 #1 DELL'OTTO ane:fifty VARIANT (Curiosity 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $880
eBay Graded Auction: 9.8: $1,625
X-23 is one of the hottest characters right now. Dell'Otto is one of the hottest artists. Connecting those ii made this variant into a gorgeous slice of art. After jumping from $100 only a year ago, information technology has seemed to have leveled out lately. Don't worry, this is never going to go back down.
#13 – AMAZING SPIDER-Man PRESENTS: Black CAT #1 CAMPBELL ane:50 VARIANT (MARVEL 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $787
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $1,425
Arguably one of Campbell's best covers and it's incredible tough to notice! On iv/nine it sold raw for $500 and $700 on 4/10. Then it dried upwardly. On six/19, someone listed this for $200 with the all-time offer turned on. Information technology sold for full toll in a mere 17 minutes. Doh! Poor oblivious seller. Recently, in July, a NM copy sold for $787.
#fourteen – BATMAN #608 RRP JIM LEE VARIANT (DC 2006)
eBay NM Avg raw: $740
eBay Graded Sale: ix.8: $2,150 (*update* member JDR found any fifty-fifty ameliorate 9.8 price from 3/21/16 at $3,383. That's pretty awesome.)
This 10 year quondam variant doesn't seem to e'er get away. Information technology commands a high price and appears it always will. Information technology's the most coveted Batman variant of all time and information technology doesn't hurt that Harley is also on the comprehend. Oh, and Jim Lee is a pretty strong creative person too.
#xv – Captain Marvel #xiv AMANDA CONNER 1:25 VARIANT (MARVEL 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $700
eBay Graded Auction: nine.viii: $1,600
At that place's ever been plenty of debate over the first advent of Kamala. At that place'south a graphic symbol that kind of (not really) looks like her in this volume that's running away from a brawl. Somewhere, the writer confirmed that it was indeed Kamala. Hence, the market place has chosen this equally the go-to 1st Ms. Marvel. And the debate shall continue…….
#16 – UNCANNY X-FORCE #twenty PSYLOCKE RENAUD 1:fifty "VENOM" Embrace (Marvel 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $700
eBay Graded Auction: 9.8: $one,275
Yep, Venom Variant month book again AND information technology has both Venom Deadpool and Venom Psylocke. This is pretty much a no brainer and doesn't need more explanation. It was recently dubbed as the second most valuable Venom calendar month Variant, but…it has some company with several friends close behind.
#17 – BATMAN/SUPERMAN #4 MICHAEL TURNER GERMAN VARIANT (DC 2004)
eBay NM Avg raw: $700
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
This is easily one of the very few strange variants that is worth such a large sum of money. Prices tend to vary as copies disappear for long periods of time while demand slowly builds. Recently a VF copy sold for $590 and a CGC 9.4 SS copy sold for $1,700.
#18 – Fe Homo #512 STROMAN ane:l VENOM VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $643
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Yep. Venom Variant. All chromey. Like others, when I started this listing this book was at $310. A recent sale of $643 skyrocketed this volume'southward value. 9.8's are currently listed for $one,800. Buy whatsoever Venom variant in the rest of the set that'south nether $250. They have become some of the all-time investment variants ever. If you have a full set then y'all did very, very well.
#19 – WE CAN NEVER GO Dwelling #1 2015 SDCC VARIANT (Black MASK 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $600
eBay Graded Sale: $945
I was surprised to see this 2015 Black Mask SDCC exclusive on this list. It was limited to 50 copies and was easily selling for around $700 final summertime. It dropped a bit a few months later. However, a raw re-create on 4/twenty sold for $1K only has since dropped equally a copy sits on eBay at $700 with no bids. A CGC 9.8 SS sold for $945, merely was then relisted a few days later on so removed. It appears that this cost is dropping.
#twenty – WALKING DEAD #100 LUCILLE, NON Red VARIANT (Image 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $600
eBay Graded Sale: nine.8: $768
Kirkman signed and sent these to Retailers as a cheers for supporting 100 issues of Walking Dead (and making him VERY rich). What's fifty-fifty harder to find is the unsigned variant. Prices on both of these are very close. When Negan returns and gains more traction on the show, this will commencement climbing this list.
#21 – SUPERMAN BATMAN #vii DELL'OTTO VIRGIN FRENCH PANINI EURO VARIANT (DC 2006)
eBay NM Avg raw: $500
eBay Graded Auction: N/A
Holy smokes Batman! Man, this volume made several huge jumps upward in value recently. There were ii big sales recently, ane on 8/twenty @ $500 and some other on viii/19 @ $455. It was really just a matter of time. This encompass is astonishing. The kicker is that these were inexpensive for a while. Not anymore. When purchasing, be conscientious of the German language variant. It shares this cover but instead of being virgin, it has the BATMAN logo at the top.
#22 – HELLBOY: THE FURY #3 VIRGIN VARIANT (Night HORSE 2011)
eBay NM Avg raw: $500
eBay Graded Sale: 9.viii: $810
This Virgin variant is incredibly hard to observe. Being a non-big two book, $500 is a really stiff commanding price. It dwarfs Hellboy's first and early appearances and takes start identify as the virtually valuable Hellboy volume. Heck, most valuable Dark Horse book!
#23 – DUCK TALES #ane 2011 SDCC VARIANT (KABOOM 2011)
eBay NM Avg raw: $500
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Two major forces ruled my babyhood: Nintendo & Duck Tales. This variant is extremely loftier on my most desired variants. Withal, it'due south officially WAY out of my toll range equally the former lonely copy on eBay sold for $500. In that location are 3 listed currently, an undetermined condition raw @ $500, a CGC nine.half dozen SS @ $one,500 and a signed raw at $700.
#24 – DANGER Daughter #2 "SMOKING GUN" RUBY Ruddy VARIANT (IMAGE 1998)
eBay NM Avg raw: $500
eBay Graded Auction: $1,200
This book hasn't seen a auction in a really long fourth dimension. However, that'south only because it'due south never listed. Almost copies that I've seen have been sold through places similar the CGC forums. Fifty-fifty then, it'south super rare. I debated putting this volume on here considering of the lack of sales. However, it'due south SO in demand, and information technology sits on other sites' "elevation about valuable variants", that I had to. I remember $500 is a really low estimate, just sales over the past couple years accept danced effectually that. Some higher and some lower, without knowing condition. The standard variant was limited to four,000 copies, the Platinum at 1,000 and information technology's unknown what it is for this. 500 is a safe approximate, but seeing how seldom information technology shows upwardly, information technology could even be 100.
#25 – DEADPOOL #45 "ULTIMATE SPIDER-Homo HOMAGE" HORN 1:50 VARIANT (Marvel 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $500
eBay Graded Sale: $720
Okay, when I started this list this was But about to fall off at #100. But that was in June/July when copies were selling for $180. A re-create sold at the beginning of Baronial for $500, therefore skyrocketing this book'due south value. Deadpool variants sell really, really, actually well. They don't merely retain value, they slowly (and oftentimes quickly) keep increasing. It's honestly my favorite Deadpool variant, so I'm actually glad it made this list.
#26 – SPIDER-Human #1 MARVEL COLLECTIBLE CLASSICS CHROMIUM VARIANT (Curiosity 1998)
eBay NM Avg raw: $485
eBay Graded Auction: 9.eight: $725
Curiosity did several of these Marvel Collectible Archetype Chromium covers. While they all tend to vary in price nether $fifty, Spider-Man #1 and Amazing Spider-Human being #300 are leaps and bounds far more than expensive then their Classic Chromium brothers. These are excellent investments as they will e'er exist in demand and rarely come up upward for sale. In that location's a CGC nine.ix up for sale at $1,650 if y'all're feeling similar spending some greenbacks.
#27 – Astonishing SPIDER-Homo #688 CAMPBELL 1:fifty "Lizard" VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $470
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $1,000
I think my CGC 9.8 copy was the concluding graded sold listing earlier this PGX re-create did. I sold mine in Dec 2014 for $275. Ouch. And the kicker is it just SAT there for months at that price with barely a nibble. Regardless, this is Campbell's all-time non-lady variant. It's impossible to find and awesome.
#28 – JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #633 HANS 1:50 VENOM VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $470
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Seriously, concur on to these Venom Variants. This is another 1 that had a sizeable bound in price. They merely simply boss this list. I don't know of any other theme variant month that has such demand.
#29 – AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #700 DITKO ane:200 VARIANT (MARVEL 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $450
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $880
Ditko is a legend and a Spidey i especially. This variant merely gets harder and harder to find. Legend + anniversary issue +1:200 = crawly. I think $450 is a decent cost as this volume has tremendous long term potential.
#thirty – MS. MARVEL #2 MOLINA 1:50 VARIANT (Marvel 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $450
eBay Graded Sale: 9.6: $598
$450 seems like an entry toll to this variant. I don't spend money on books, merely I'grand super tempted for this book. I can absolutely run into this becoming the near valuable Kamala Khan variant. Heck, I can encounter this condign a summit ten variant.
#31 – SPAWN # 222 KUDRANSKI VARIANT (Image 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $450
eBay Graded Sale: nine.4: $330
This is one of those Spawn variants that only a true Spawn collector would recognize as a incredibly rare variant. Spawn books don't say "variant" anywhere on the cover. And this variant's fine art blends in perfectly with all surrounding problems. In 2012, this Spawn upshot had a print run of xviii.3K. That's a far cry from the 1M print run of issue #1. The rumored impress run for these is virtually 400 copies. When earthworks through $1 and dorsum problems, always look for this issue. I'one thousand positive that most stores wouldn't await twice at this.
#32 – SPAWN 220 MCFARLANE 1 IN 75 SKETCH VARIANT (Paradigm 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $449
eBay Graded Sale: Northward/A
We've mentioned these a lot lately. Spawn has a huge fan base that gladly pays large amounts for incredibly hard to find variants like these sketch homage variants. Spawn collectors have been wanting them for a while now. However, since they're fantastic cover swipes of popular characters/covers, fifty-fifty the casual Spawn fan wants them now too. This Hulk homage is currently the king of them. I see this set going the way of the Venom Variants and will offset dragging the residue of the prepare up with it. When shopping for this, go on in mind that the upshot #200 sketch variant looks VERY like to this.
#33 – Cherry HOOD: THE LOST DAYS #1 MATTINA i:25 VARIANT (DC 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $430
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
At that place have been 3 recent sales: $400 on 8/16, $465 on seven/31 and $480 on vii/fifteen, all NM. More and more folks are noticing this rare variant and are making information technology into a highly desired variant. Red Hood, theatrically, is a piffling in limbo right now. Just that hasn't seemed to end this. Mattina is also getting a lot of attention lately, which definitely helps this book.
#34 – GUARDIANS OF THE Milky way #4 CAMPBELL "GAMORA" one:50 VARIANT (MARVEL 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $425
eBay Graded Sale: 9.eight: $450
The 9.8 sale was on 5/21. The raw sale was on 6/21. This variant had a big leap recently. Campbell is some other common theme on this list. He dominates the variant marketplace and has a tremendous fan base. As time passes, these hard to find variants DON'T get easier to find. Therefore, they will not be getting any cheaper either.
#35 – GRIMM FAIRY TALES SDCC EBAS STAR WARS "NAUGHTY/RISQUÉ" SLAVE LEIA VARIANT/ ALL NAUGHTY VARIANTS (ZENESCOPE 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $425
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Zenescope variants have their fans. And this is the variant that only does information technology for them the most (Annotation: pictured is the more common not-risqué cover. We'll let you fill up your ain browser search history for "naughty Leia"). Similar this variant, most naughty variants command a pretty penny. I'm refraining from adding more on this listing as 1: they would dominate information technology (I count at to the lowest degree 30 that would be on here) & 2: this is a general audience site and nigh of these are pretty risqué. Regardless, this spot is reserved for Zenescope and their very successful back event market variants.
#36 – BATMAN #ane NEW 52 CAPULLO 1:200 VARIANT (DC 2011)
eBay NM Avg raw: $410
eBay Graded Sale: nine.viii: $925
One of the big questions with Rebirth was "how would information technology bear upon New 52 values?" This is hands downwards one of the most expensive New 52 books, and information technology has provided an answer: it hurt a petty. It'south downwards from its pre-Rebirth market value of $600. With fans itching for a return of the Snyder-Capullo run, this volume should practise fine long term.
#37 – AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #648 CAMPBELL 1:50 COLOR VARIANT (2011 MARVEL)
eBay NM Avg raw: $403
eBay Graded Sale: North/A
Aye, another Campbell variant shows up again on the list. Anti-fans mutter that all his women look the same. Seeing his dominance and the success of his variants on this list, information technology plainly works really, actually well for him (and collectors).
#38 – WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #4 BROOKS 1:fifty "VENOM" VARIANT (Marvel 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $400
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
This variant saw a big bound to $521 on 5/20/xvi. Since and then, copies have danced effectually $220. An sale list is currently at $350. My approximate is that it'll end in the $400 range.
#39 – AMAZING SPIDER-Man #300 MARVEL COLLECTIBLE CLASSICS CHROMIUM VARIANT (MARVEL 1998)
eBay NM Avg raw: $400
eBay Graded Sale: ix.viii: $887
Come across Amazing Spider-Man #1 Chromium. Information technology greatly helps that this is the rarest variant that contains the kickoff total appearance of Venom.
#40 – WOLVERINE #66 (One-time MAN LOGAN) TURNER SKETCH VARIANT (Curiosity 2008)
eBay NM Avg raw: $400
eBay Graded Sale: $725
One time information technology was confirmed that the side by side Wolverine movie would NOT focus on the Old Man Logan storyline, I thought this variant was expressionless. But then the Aspen Turner Batman variant stirred things up a bit and finally gave Mr. Turner his overdue after market dear. While this will never exist nether $100, I don't await this price to hold.
#41 – ADVENTURE COMICS #515 DARKSEID 1:25 75TH ANNIVERSARY VARIANT (DC 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $400
eBay Graded Auction: N/A
I don't know if people don't know nigh this variant or if it'southward just exceptionally rare. The CGC census shows 6 Total graded copies. This book has sold for $150 for low grade copies to $400 for high course. All contempo sales take been VF/damaged copies for around $150 to $200. Expensive variants like this simply don't fly under the radar. vi graded copies tells me that this is truly i difficult book to find.
#42 – TRANSFORMERS More THAN MEETS THE EYE #19 1:25 RI VARIANT (IDW 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $400
eBay Graded Sale:Due north/A
Who knew, correct? This variant is so highly sought after. And copies just do non come upwardly for information technology. I actually think this current ranking for this one:25 variant is Mode depression. Does your store order 25 copies of each Transformers issue? Probably non. There's plenty more than room to grow on this. There's currently one copy for auction, it'due south a CGC 9.0 at $600 and looks pressable.
#43 – MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE #1 WILKINS "SKELETOR" 1:25 VARIANT (DC 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $400
eBay Graded Sale: Due north/A
It drives me crazy that I can't find this variant. It was adequately available nether $100 about a yr ago, and I was determined to find it cheaper. That programme failed. This one:25 (I always thought it was 1:fifty) is quickly becoming the crown gem of MOTU comics. It's terribly difficult to find and keeps increasing every fourth dimension it's listed. Don't sell this either, if a MOTU movie ever gets fabricated….. man, watch out. Graded copies? Adept luck finding one.
#44 – CAPTAIN AMERICA # seven PERKINS i:fifty "VENOM" Encompass (Curiosity 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $362
eBay Graded Sale:Northward/A
I'thou running out of things to say for these Venom Variants. Notice them cheap if possible and wait. They're not going away. This book has disappeared from eBay. I await to see a big spring when it shows up once more.
#45 – WALKING DEAD #100 OTTLEY COMIXOLOGY SKETCH VARIANT (Image 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $355
eBay Graded Auction: nine.eight: $625
The final raw copy sold on 8/sixteen/16 in NM for $355. This is a sharp drop during a loftier sale of $1,000 in 4/16. Why the sudden drop? It's hard to say. Just it does go to prove yous that non every high priced variant keeps going up. Limited to only 500 copies, it should practice fine long term.
#46 – MOON KNIGHT #1 SIENKIEWICZ 1:75 VARIANT (MARVEL 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $355
eBay Graded Auction:7.v: $200
Man, people sure practise dearest them some Moon Knight. I've never taken to the character, just I become the whole "Marvel'due south Batman". Sienkiewicz has his ain huge fan base of operations, so this makes sense that it climbs the variant market without any content proclamation.
#47 – INCREDIBLE HULK #4 DEL MUNDO 1:fifty "VENOM" VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $355
eBay Graded Sale: CBCS ix.viii: $475
On v/20 this hit a loftier of $342. It recently dropped to $192 on 6/12. Thanks to several recent sales, including a new height of $355, it'south back on the motility. It'south a Venom Variant Month book, of course it's moving up in price. A recent sale on 8/22 for a CBCS 9.viii seems like a steal at $475.
#48 – RICK AND MORTY #i ROILAND i:fifty VARIANT (ONI 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $350
eBay Graded Auction: CGC 9.4: $500
People dear this testify. The episodes that I've seen are definitely funny. I come across the appeal. With that said, I don't hear about the testify every bit much every bit I used to. Nevertheless, that hasn't affected this book's value. It's nevertheless bringing in big amounts. Information technology has recently disappeared from EBay. No listings to exist seen.
#49 – SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #23 HUGHES 1:10 VARIANT (DC 2006)
eBay NM Avg raw: $338
eBay Graded Auction: 9.8: $717
I totally thought this variant would hands height the list. But, it's right in the center. When you attempt to rattle off the about valuable variants, this is one of the first 5 that you think of. Information technology's a perfect cover in every way. Arguably, it may be the best modern variant. Why isn't it a $1K volume? Well, a 41.5K impress run was a decent number for Supergirl. This variant, being a 1:10 variant, was pretty accessible upon release. Regardless, copies are drying up into collections. It's a really tough book to permit go. It'southward a great investment volume.
#50 – HARLEY QUINN #ane HUGHES 1:25 VARIANT (DC 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw:$301
eBay Graded Sale:$700
What else is there to say well-nigh this. It's Harley & Hughes. He nailed this cover. Beingness a 1:25 incentive for an issue that sold 92K copies isn't exceptionally rare. However, mix in the 2 fan bases that this variant pulls in and BAM…. Demand=$.
#51 – TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #ane 2ND Printing (Mirage 1984)
eBay NM Avg raw: $300
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $1,050
Officially the oldest variant on the list. Can't beget TMNT #1 1st impress? 2d print is a no brainer. The first print was limited to a very low 3,000 copies. This 2nd print jumped upwardly to a still difficult print run of 6,000 copies. The 3rd print got smart and finally jumped to 35,000. This is a really smart investment book.
#52 – JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #50 LEE i:75 75TH ANNIVERSARY VARIANT (DC 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $300
eBay Graded Sale:N/A
On 8/15/sixteen, this incredibly difficult to discover variant finally saw ane copy sell for $200. And it was a VF re-create. $300 is an estimate, and I feel that it's depression. Information technology is easily the best homage cover out of the 75th Ceremony Variant set and it's fricking Jim Lee….. AND a loftier 1:75 ratio. At that place'due south a CGC 9.8 copy for auction at $400. That seems like an excellent price.
#53 – CAPTAIN Marvel #17 2d Print (MARVEL 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $300
eBay Graded Sale:$645
This heavily argued 1st Kamala Khan has seen some dips in value while the #xiv variant has been apace escalating in value. Even so, this doesn't mean that at that place's no long term potential. Information technology probably has some of the best potential out of every book on hither. It's just seeing a lull, which is the perfect time to purchase. The market could always right itself.
#54 – SEX CRIMINALS #half dozen BRIMPCEPTION VARIANT (Image 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $293
eBay Graded Sale: 9.eight: $ii,249.99
Brimpception!! Honey it or hate information technology, this limited to 100 copies book is incredibly hard to detect. It'southward like printing money if you lot have one that's high grade.
#55 – SUPERIOR SPIDER-Homo #xx CAMPBELL 1:50 VARIANT (Marvel 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $290
eBay Graded Sale:nine.eight: $400
I know many point to Spider-Human being Presents Black Cat #1 as their favorite Campbell cover, but this is easily mine. Yeah, sure, boobs are forepart and center…but, this cover is fun in its playfulness…okay fine, information technology's the boobs and the whole sexy cat thing.
#56 – EDGE OF SPIDER-Verse #ii LAND one:25 VARIANT (MARVEL 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $280
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $500
Was this book hot in 2014 or what? Information technology quickly hit $50 within a week. When folks caught wind of the Spider-Gwen fever it shot upward to crazy amounts. I think it had reached something similar $700 raw at one bespeak…which is simply basics. But still, people LOVED Spider-Gwen. It's stabilized to $280, which is however actually good for a i:25 variant for what was supposed to exist a in one case throwaway character.
#57 – WOLVERINE #145 NABISCO VARIANT (MARVEL 1999)
eBay NM Avg raw: $280
eBay Graded Sale: 9.iv: $300
This issue marked the render of Wolverine'south Adamantium subsequently getting pulled out of his pores by Magneto in 10-Men #25. Wolverine was without Adamantium for 6 years, which is really a long time in the world of comics. That timespan, including this result, had some of the best 10-Men stories ever. About all the variants for Wolverine #145 sell for decent money. This Nabisco mail away is hands down the hardest to discover, especially in NM condition. Do you think a food visitor knew how to mail a comic volume in 1999? Nope.
#58 – WONDER WOMAN #38 FINCH 1:100 VARIANT (DC 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $275
eBay Graded Auction: $700
I tin can't tell yous how ofttimes I hear or see people asking for this variant. It was hot right out of the gate and rose to $150 its kickoff weekend. It reached a height of $250 so demand dipped. For a few months, this could exist bought for $100. I call up this was due to multiple listings with sellers trying to chase that $250 and were undercutting to get something out it. Homo, that was a mistake. Those that bought it cheaply or held on to these are riding a demand wave that volition last a long time.
#59 – NEW MUTANTS #ane SDCC Fractional SKETCH VARIANT (Marvel 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $275
eBay Graded Auction:N/A
For years and years, information technology was e'er X-Men #510 that people paid attending to. Black Panther and New Mutants were super cheap books that were pretty easy to observe. At present, these are just becoming variant juggernauts. Tin this always break the $1K mark like its sisters? Probably not. Still, it's a high value variant that will see slow gains.
#threescore – INCREDIBLE Blob #100 TURNER ane:50 "Greyness Blob" VARIANT (MARVEL 2007)
eBay NM Avg raw: $275
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $150
Two things helped skyrocket this variant to its contempo market value: 1: Planet Blob announced as the main movie storyline & 2: Michael Turner resurgence. Days after several high sales, someone listed a ix.viii for $175 obo. Of course, someone offered $150 right abroad and got information technology. This is why it's incredibly important to enquiry your books before list. That was an excellent buy.
#61 – Blackness WIDOW #6 CAMPBELL "KISS OR Kill" 1:15 VARIANT (MARVEL 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $272
eBay Graded Sale: 9.6: $300
Campbell covers are highly collected amongst fans. This variant is one of the hardest to find, permit alone in loftier grades. The stark white cover is unforgiving to spine creases, indents and marks. Man, I love this variant.
#62 – SPAWN #227 SKETCH VARIANT MCFARLANE "AMAZING SPIDERMAN #300 HOMAGE" (IMAGE 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $270
eBay Graded Auction: Due north/A
Spidey #300 is a heavily overused cover swipe, only Spawn did it perfectly. It helps that it's drawn by McFarlane who created this original iconic cover and, IMO as I am a teen of the ninety's, hands one of the best Spidey artists ever.
#63 – AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #648 CAMPBELL 1:100 SKETCH VARIANT (MARVEL 2011)
eBay NM Avg raw: $270
eBay Graded Sale:N/A
And then, here'south an interesting tendency with Campbell covers, less rare color versions of his variants are selling for fashion more then the higher ratio sketch variants. Equally someone who'southward not the biggest fan of sketch covers, I appreciate and similar this trend. Notwithstanding, this would be accepted with open arms into my collection.
#64 – AVENGERS #21 BARBERI one:l VENOM VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $267
eBay Graded Sale: Due north/A
Cap certain made information technology on a lot of these Venom covers. Iron Man makes his 2nd Venom encompass advent and is joined by a venomized Spider-Woman. I'll admit, these are pretty absurd. I wish I didn't snub my nose at "another theme variant month" back in 2012, the about magical variant year ever.
#65 – DIVINITY #ane LAROSA ane:forty VARIANT (VALIANT 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $260
eBay Graded Auction: $522
Okay, full disclosure…. I'm not the biggest Valiant fan. However, I recognize how hard this book is to find. Information technology'southward dipped a lot, but Valiant fans are fiercely loyal and volition always spend coin on their hard to find books. This variant is exceptionally rare, so this volition have no problem retaining value.
#66 – SPIDER-MAN #1 Gold UPC 2nd Print (MARVEL 1990)
eBay NM Avg raw: $260
eBay Graded Sale: $560
I was surprised to come across this so low on the listing. In my mind, this was one of the hardest and rarest Spidey books to observe. I approximate it still is, but non in the same style it was 10 years ago. It seems pretty stable at this price right now.
#67 – SPAWN #231 MCFARLANE SPIDERMAN #1 HOMAGE SKETCH VARIANT (Prototype 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $256
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Hey, information technology's ane of those Spawn sketch covers again! Yep, it's a Spider-Man homage done by the same artist that made the Spidey pose famous AND brought this Spawn guy to us. Easy. Makes sense. A signature series for this is but obvious. Someone will get Stan Lee to sign 1 though…. *sigh*
#68 – Eastward OF WEST #i RRP DIAMOND RETAILER DRAGOTTA VARIANT (Epitome 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $250
eBay Graded Sale: ix.8: $400
Limited to 300 copies, this RRP variant has been climbing in price very steadily. This $250 estimate is low, as the most recent copy sold was a VF course for $185. East OF WEST has a strong fan base that'due south well deserved. Imagine if the standard issues skyrocket in price….. This is a solid investment book correct now.
#69 – TEEN TITANS #75 HUGHES 1:25 VARIANT (DC 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $250
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Hey kids! A Hughes cover! And a Hughes drawn Starfire to boot. This 1:25 variant has been slowly, just very steadily, increasing in value. 9.8's are incredibly hard to come up past. The CGC census show only x copies graded and a mere iv copies in a 9.8. This is one of Hughes' most popular variants. This lack of gradings gives a hint to its rarity.
#lxx – DEADPOOL MERC WITH A MOUTH #1 MCGUINNESS 2009 SDCC SKETCH VARIANT (Marvel 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $250
eBay Graded Sale: $500
This is some other Deadpool variant that rarely comes upwards for sale. Currently, there is one listed at $350 with 13 watchers. Information technology will sell and and so, like well-nigh difficult to find Deadpool variants, it will become up.
#71 – HULK #xvi MCGUINNESS "DEADPOOL" i:fifty VARIANT (MARVEL 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $250
eBay Graded Sale:N/A
The most recent sale of $217 on 8/3/sixteen was for a VF/NM copy. A NM copy sold a month before that at $200. And then, $250 is a crude estimate.
#72 – ULTIMATE FALLOUT #four DJURDJEVIC ane:25 VARIANT
eBay NM Avg raw: $240
eBay Graded Sale: $840
The first appearance of Mile Morales is still bringing in decent $, despite taking a tumble in value after copies have been consistently found in abundance at Five Beneath disbelieve stores. This variant actually spurred a rich debate on the validity of variant "rareness". How practise copies all of a sudden announced years after release…and at severely discounted prices. Nevertheless, it didn't end up mattering. If need is there, so will the $. Luckily, most of those Five Below copies that are selling for $100 or less are VF/NM at best, merely NM prices are property very well.
#73 – MIGHTY MORPHIN Ability RANGERS #0 RED COMICSPRO VARIANT (BOOM 2016)
eBay NM Avg raw: $240
eBay Graded Sale:N/A
This Power Rangers Comicspro variant has seen decreasing sales lately. However, $240 is all the same strong for this.
#74 – TRANSFORMERS More than THAN MEETS THE Middle #43 TEXAS COMIC CON VARIANT (IDW 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $240
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
I'one thousand actually pretty surprised at how many Transformers bug appear on the list. There has only been one listed/sold. And this is it. Fluke? Mayhap. Simply for now, if you have one, the money is out there. *UPDATE* Per Studley_Dudley on the CBCS forum, this variant was supposed to be distributed during the 2015 Texas Comic Con, just wasn't. This lead to a backfire of upset Transformers fans on the convention's Facebook feed. That would explain the loftier price for this variant. The question is, where did these go? Some obviously made their way out of IDW.
#75 – WONDER Adult female #600 HUGHES 1:75 75TH ANNIVERSARY VARIANT (DC 2006)
eBay NM Avg raw: $232
eBay Graded Sale: North/A
This gorgeous 75th Ceremony Variant is one of Adam Hughes' best. The sketch sells for a premium in high grade. The color isn't that far behind.
#76 – UNCANNY Ten-FORCE # v MANARA "PSYLOCKE" 1:50 VARIANT (MARVEL 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw:$227
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $650
Manara is another love him or hate him artist. While some of his artwork is overtly sexual, this variant is merely gorgeous and represents how adept Manara is.
#77 – PUNISHER #2 OPENA 1:fifty VARIANT (MARVEL 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $225
eBay Graded Sale: Due north/A
There haven't been many sales or listed copies lately. However, the copies that accept shown up accept sold for $200 chop-chop. #2 issues always accept big drops and stores weren't ordering l copies of the Punisher. Practiced luck finding this.
#78 – GOTHAM CITY SIRENS #1 JONES one:25 VARIANT (DC 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $220
eBay Graded Sale: $500
Gotham City Sirens was recently climbing the variant charts. Lately, it's been settling to effectually $220. At that place are rumors of a DC all female film, with this title getting thrown into the mix. The title "Gotham City" seems as well limiting and exclusive for a DC Universe that has been showing other female person characters. Only, if there are whatsoever ties for the film to this volume, then but spotter this go basics.
#79 – UNCANNY Ten-MEN #500 TURNER i:200 SKETCH VARIANT (Marvel 2008)
eBay NM Avg raw: $210
eBay Graded Auction: 9.viii: $800
Not simply is this arguably one of the best 10-Men covers e'er, this issue was very special as it was the final completed cover done by the late Michael Turner. The estimated print run for these are around 400 copies. How this isn't one the most expensive variants baffles me.
#80 – GHOST Passenger #1 VARIANT i:75 NEAL ADAMS (Curiosity 2011)
eBay NM Avg raw: $210
eBay Graded Auction:Due north/A
The recent S.H.I.E.L.D. news of Ghost Rider'southward advent non but shot up values for the new more than recent Ghost Rider Robbie Reyes, only information technology dragged this "ghost" of a variant to $200+. Will information technology stay? Hard to tell, merely Adams has a huge following. If Ghost Rider does well, then this book will continue to climb.
#81 – Hugger-mugger AVENGERS #21 PHAM 1:50 VENOM VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $206
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Venomized Captain America, Black Widow and Moon Knight. I'm surprised this isn't going for more then information technology is. Expect, what am I proverb. Of course information technology'due south going to get upwards.
#82 – SPIDER-Human being #1 MCFARLANE PLATINUM VARIANT (MARVEL 1990)
eBay NM Avg raw: $205
eBay Graded Sale: 9.8: $838
Hands one of my most coveted books. This was a thank you lot book sent to retailers afterward the huge sales success for Spider-Human being #one. The rumored print run for this is around x,000 copies. Withal, compare that to the 2 million copies sold for the 1st print. That'south super tiny. Loftier grade copies are incredibly difficult to detect and sell for a hyper premium. A recent CGC ix.viii sold for $838, 4x the market rate.
#83 – HOWARD THE DUCK #i LIM ane:25 "GWENPOOL" VARIANT (Marvel 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: nine.8: $355
Here's a variant that was selling for $75 before information technology even released. It rose to $110 then dropped to $seventy after some market place flooding. Since copies have started drying upwardly, this has been steadily increasing.
#84 – Winter SOLDIER #1 DELL'OTTO 1:50 VARIANT (Curiosity 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Auction: Due north/A
This variant shot out of obscurity to a $700 book overnight. In one case folks found copies and listed them, the rareness of it went with information technology. Information technology's still super rare, but the market became less interested in information technology and settled it downwards to $200. Keep in heed that $200 for a 1:50 is amazing. Watch information technology rise once more as copies disappear.
#85 – X-23 #one DJURDJEVIC 1:75 VARIANT (Marvel 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: ix.eight: $450
Regardless of whether Ten-23 shows upward in the next Wolverine picture, fans LOVE them some X-23. This 1:75 took a back seat to Dell'Otto'south 1:50 for a while. Every bit that book has get Way out of reach, folks have been turning back to this variant. And it'south rarer to kicking! However, that Dell'Otto is but perfect.
#86 – WOLVERINE ORIGINS #10 QUESADA "third CLAW" 1:100 VARIANT (Marvel 2007)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Auction: N/A
Sure, you hate Daken. And I understand why. Forced copy of Marvel's most successful mutant with ambiguous sexuality and weird pheromone powers. I counter contend: I think he'due south i of the most original and interesting characters Curiosity has created in the past 15 years. I love his origin, daddy issues and powers. He'due south an extremely difficult graphic symbol to write. Dark Wolverine was awesome. Everything afterward was terrible. There's so much potential in this graphic symbol. Copies in high course slabs sell for a premium; however, the highest grade sold lately was a CGC 8.v @$225.
#87 – CAPTAIN MARVEL #thirteen CONNER 1:25 VARIANT (Curiosity 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: Due north/A
I don't think this issue even has anything to do with the new Ms. Marvel. However, spillover from event #xiv & #17 helped raise this variant out of obscurity and onto this list.
#88 – MIGHTY THOR #ten PAREL 1:50 "VENOM" VARIANT (MARVEL 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: Northward/A
Oh, what's that? Yous need more Venom Variants. *Poof* there you go. One more on the summit 100.
#89 – VENOM #12 DEL MUNDO 1:50 "VENOM" VARIANT (Curiosity 2012)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Soooooo, the actual Venom titled book is 1 of the least valuable variants of the Venom variant month ready? I guess information technology makes sense. What could they practice, a Venomized Venom? So, they instead venom-ized Jack O' Lantern, which I guess isn't as high in demand as a venom-ized Psylocke (I totally thought it was Green Goblin or Hobogoblin until I wrote this). Withal, there are no copies listed. Seeing the tendency, this likewise volition become upward.
#ninety – WONDER Woman #28 NEW 52 JONES i:25 "STEAMPUNK" VARIANT (DC 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
The Steampunk variant month saw some bad covers, simply keen ones (like this) have shot upwards in value. Wonder Woman variants seem to be loftier in demand right at present….. It'south the movie right? Regardless, a great cover that's difficult to find.
#91 – THUNDERBOLTS #5 TAN 1:l "AGENT VENOM" VARIANT (Curiosity 2013)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
This has stabilized at $200. With that cherry-red cover, it'll exist a difficult book to detect in high grades. Information technology should concord at this price for a while.
#92 – UNCANNY Ten-FORCE #1 LIEFELD 1:50 VARIANT (MARVEL 2010)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: 9.viii: $290
Uncanny Ten-Forcefulness variants have received a lot of beloved. So has Liefeld lately. So a Liefeld cover that has Deadpool, Wolverine, Psylocke, etc. is pretty much a no brainer.
#93 – DEADPOOL #45 MOORE "Death OF WOLVERINE HOMAGE" 1:100 VARIANT (Curiosity 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Auction: $250
Tony Moore is one of my favorite artists with using great item and free energy. This is no different. I don't love the jokey covers, but I like this one a lot. I don't recollect information technology'll climb as well high, but $200 seems pretty steady for this "Decease of Deadpool" variant.
#94 – ENORMOUS #1 2014 NYCC VARIANT (215 INK 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Limited to 106 copies, this variant shot to heights of $450 when the show was appear. I had immense religion in this property, but it's been a while since any news has released on its progress. I even so accept a re-create of this, so I'm holding on to it….. for meliorate or worse.
#95 – SPAWN #185 HEADLESS MCFARLANE VARIANT (Prototype 2008)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Another hard to notice Spawn variant. Human, people beloved their Spawn books. As this list will bear witness, his fans are incredibly hungry for these hard to find variants. A 9.6 re-create is currently listed for $400, which seems depression. A ix.8 would probably go for big money.
#96 – SHE-Blob #i 1:100 OUM VARIANT (MARVEL 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale:ix.viii: $350 est
I really dislike putting this variant on this listing. If you know me, then you know that this is at the very acme of my most wanted variants. I pondered paying $75 back when it was that low, and I deeply regret it. I'm a big She-Hulk fan besides as a Siya Oum fan, and this (to me) is the all-time She-Hulk variant washed by ane of the best artists in the industry (Savage She-Hulks #3 Campbell is a shut 2nd). Please, don't buy these. Just send me the links. Seriously, I demand a copy earlier this increases any more.
#97 – LUMBERJANES #1 Boom "Pattern" VARIANT (Blast 2014)
eBay NM Avg raw: $200
eBay Graded Sale: N/A
Express to 250 copies, this variant hit $100+ upon the initial option announcement. A few months later, copies were obtainable for inexpensive. During that crazy buzz, Nail kept releasing copies for days for super cheap. People were able to snag multiple copies. Well, thanks to option news (that actually is moving forward), a manager was appear and sent this variant skyrocketing. It pays to hold on to books sometimes.
#98 – UNCANNY X-MEN #510 PSYLOCKE CAMPBELL 1:xv VARIANT (MARVEL 2009)
eBay NM Avg raw: $195
eBay Graded Auction: $450
Before X-Men: Apocalypse was released, this variant was pricey! It has cooled off a little since. Doesn't affair though, Psylocke is arguably the most desired 10-female person to grace our variants and this variant is fantastically beautiful.
#99 – STAR WARS #one C2E2 CHRISTOPHER SKETCH LUKE Action FIGURE VARIANT (Curiosity 2015)
eBay NM Avg raw: $194
eBay Graded Sale: North/A
This is another variant that dipped after seeing a tiptop of $450. However, it'due south still selling really strong. Even low form copies sell for over $125.
#100 – SPAWN #1 BLACK & WHITE MCFARLANE VARIANT (Image 1997)
eBay NM Avg raw: $172
eBay Graded Sale: CBCS 9.8: $650
This kicked Ten-MEN (2010) #23 Christopher i:50 Venom Variant off the listing by $ii and Spider-Gwen #one Hughes by $5. But there you go. This black & white reprint of Spawn #1 has been a grail for well-nigh Spawn fans since 1997. With a rough impress run of three,000 copies, just try finding a NM copy. They are impossible to observe, and when they do show up they sell for top dollar. This is a great book to end on. I'm surprised at how much Spawn & Venom dominate this list. What does it tell me? To pick upwards Venom and Spawn variants when I see them cheap, and then only wait 5-x years.
